Online Counselling Sessions
One-to-one counselling sessions online
Counselling is a confidential space where you can talk about what's bothering you.
The sessions I offer are weekly, on Zoom, for one hour, and cost £50 per session.
Lots of people go to counselling for different reasons, which may include:
And so much more...
Even if you can't really pinpoint what's going on for you, you're just feeling a bit crappy, that's fine. There's no issue too small, you are still deserving of help. When I first had counselling myself I thought my problems were nothing compared to other people's and that I was being selfish. Many years, many therapists' and many hundreds of pounds later I realised that I was absolutely worthy of that time, in fact it was crucial for my own survival and growth.
I work in an Integrative and Pluralistic way, which means I studied different therapeutic theories and practices to be able to work with people in a collaborative and adaptable way. When you're looking for a counsellor, I personally think it's best just to go with your gut because ultimately it's got to be someone you feel comfortable with. Counselling is really about the relationship and trust between two people, so go with the "vibe" you get and know that you can always leave counselling whenever you want.
What you want to get out of counselling is personal to you, so I may work on completely different things in different ways with different people. It's about working with you to walk alongside you. It's all pretty different to the days of lying on a couch whilst a man with a beard and a clipboard peers over his glasses and analyses you!
I have specialities in eating distress and body image, which you'll have probably gathered if you've seen any of the other pages on this site! But I've also worked with many other presenting factors like anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem, and other things from the list above and more. I offer a free 15-minute introductory chat on Zoom so we can see if we're a good fit for each other and if we can work together. It might be that I need to refer you on if I feel my skillset doesn't quite fit your needs, and of course you have no obligation to continue sessions with me if you don't feel it's a good match.
If you're unsure if I work with what you're looking for, or you'd just like to find out more in general, please contact me here.
I can help you:
In terms of eating disorders and disordered eating, I have experience of working with:
Please note, if you are having fluctuations of weight, are underweight or experiencing other health concerns, please visit your GP. If you meet requirements for NHS eating disorder services this may be a safer and more suitable option for you. I am not able to work with anyone in current therapy elsewhere as this may be a conflict of interest.
The world can be a pretty difficult place to live in, it's hard work and expensive and many people suffer with anxieties of the modern world every day. Many people struggle facing discrimination, inequalities and exclusion on a daily basis. I am dedicated to working on offering an anti-oppressive practice. I say "working on" as I feel this is continued learning and takes continual self-reflection and awareness building. I am neuro-affirmative (with knowledge particularly around autism and ADHD and the connections to eating disorders), culturally sensitive and LGBT+ friendly. I am weight-neutral, working on the basis that people of any size can struggle with any kind of disordered eating, and I recognise the harms of weight stigma and anti-fat bias (there is more about this in my blogs). My practice comes from a place of social justice, aiming to make the world a more equal and inclusive place for all. I aim for my practice to consider the needs of all different people, but I'm still learning too. If there's anything you need to make your access easier, please let me know.
Usually sessions are once a week at the same time each week, on Zoom. Sessions are £50 to be paid at least 24 hours before each session. After the 15 minute intro session, if you choose to go ahead, I send a contract and a short questionnaire to fill out before we start properly. You can find out more about how online counselling works here.
If you'd like to book in for an intro chat, or have any questions or queries, please use my contact form and let me know your availability, and we'll arrange a time. If I don't currently have availability you can be placed on my waiting list should you wish.
